This is a  social networking and microblogging website that allows users to make a post and interact with each other’s messages(tweets). The websites allow its users to make posts and react (like) or retweet to other users
 The website was created by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams, in 2006 with its base located in the united states. Today, the website is ranking among the top social media websites with over 321 million active users per month.
What are tweets?
On Twitter, users post messages (text, photo or videos) that will appear on their timeline and on the timeline of their followers; these messages are called tweets.  Tweets used to have a character limit of 140 on messages; however, the character limit was increased to 280 especially for non-asian languages
Types of tweets
 Tweets are of different types, they include

• Normal tweet: these are normal tweets that appear on the sender's timeline and also on the timeline of his followers
•   Mentions: These are tweets containing a twitter username which is written in front of an @ symbol e.g hi @twinklebee. These types of tweets appear on the sender's profile page and can be seen by the recipient through the notification tab and also on the timeline of anyone following the user
• Replies: these are responses to someone’s tweets. Replies will appear on the profile page of the senders and on the timeline or the notification tab of the recipient.

•  Other types of tweets: other types of tweets include retweets, retweets with comments and promoted tweets.

How twitter works
Twitter works in a very simple way like every other social media sites. When you register on the website, you will be given a twitter name which will be what you will be recognized with on the website; registration is free and can be done quickly. Once you’ve registered, you can begin to post (tweet) anything you have on your mind at any time. You can post any tweet by visiting “what is happening”, then enter any text of 280 or fewer characters and click on  “tweet”. Your tweet will be seen by everyone you follow and those who follow you.
Just like Facebook, Twitter allows users to invite their friends who are on twitter to follow them so that they can build up a following. Twitter will also ask you to follow anyone that follows you back.
If you like to receive feed updates from anybody;  simply find that person you have interest on and follow them by clicking on following “button”.  if you find out that their tweet is no longer interesting, you can unfollow them by clicking “unfollow”. 
With this, you can visit twitter daily to read feeds on your timeline. Twitter is as simple as that.
